InDyne Inc. Wins Prestigious Boeing Exceptional Company Performance Award

InDyne Inc.'s CAPPS team at NASA/Kennedy Space Center (KSC) recently earned The Boeing Co.'s most prestigious teammate award, the Boeing Exceptional Company Performance Award.

The InDyne checkout, assembly, and payload processing (CAPPS) program team, led by InDyne Program Manager Janet O'Hara, was recognized for its performance and contributions to Boeing's CAPPS program, a critical aspect of the work conducted for NASA's human space flight program. The award noted InDyne's outstanding support and the critical role the company plays in providing expertise in the areas of imagery, technical training and IT desktop support.

"The innovative ideas, exceptional level of service, and abilities and awareness of operational impacts displayed by InDyne's employees are just a few of the things that make InDyne deserving of this award," said Russell G. Carroll, Boeing's division director, supplier management and procurement, Space Exploration Division. "Boeing Space Exploration Division selected InDyne based on its work toward total customer satisfaction. The challenging tasks and schedules, high standards of ethical conduct, business leadership and team spirit displayed by InDyne's employees are all reflected in this selection."

Mark Jager, Boeing's CAPPS Program Manager, presented the award to O'Hara and InDyne President and CEO C. Donald Bishop on Aug. 25, 2006, during NASA's Space Flight Awareness ceremonies in Orlando, Fla.

In his award presentation, Jager noted that the InDyne team supports every employee on the CAPPS program and readily supports the NASA customer and other contracts as needed to help handle surge requirements.

He said that the technical expertise InDyne brings to the CAPPS team has significantly contributed to the success of the program:

  • InDyne IT group successfully completed the upgrade and reconfiguration of more than 850 computer workstations to the XP operating system. This task was accomplished without impact to operations and met all challenging schedule milestones.
  • InDyne Imagery met all requirements for the Return-To-Flight milestone mission(s). These critical tasks focused on recording hardware configurations during assembly for use as historical records and -- if needed -- for on-orbit troubleshooting. InDyne expanded its imagery capabilities to encompass videography and graphics, producing high-quality products for internal and external customers.
  • The Technical Training group maintains 223 training classes covering a wide range of technical and safety topics, and provides critical employee certifications. InDyne conducts more than 1,000 classroom sessions each year.
  • InDyne Imagery has teamed with Technical Training to produce a series of training videos covering a wide variety of topics from area access, to safety, to skill certifications. These training videos are available to employees via computer-based training. The Imagery group has even staged re-enactments of close-call incidents used for safety training. This effort has resulted in time savings to employees and cost savings associated with the delivery of instructor-led classes.
  • InDyne recently expanded and improved its employee training center, which is now centrally located and better equipped to serve its many customers.
  • InDyne maintains a business office that is responsive to Boeing's business and contractual demands and sensitive to managing overhead costs/rates.
  • InDyne's demonstrated focus on customer satisfaction its commitment to continual improvement and performance excellence make InDyne a very worthy recipient of this award.
